Now that we’ve recently rolled out version 5.11, there will be another update specifically for the Polario iOS app in the coming weeks.
In the next version, we’ll be migrating our iOS app to the latest iOS 26 SDK—the toolkit used to develop apps for iOS. In doing so, we’ll also be adopting Apple’s new design language. This is most clearly visible in the navigation bar at the top of the screen, which will change from a solid, solid-colored area to a transparent element.
Why make the SDK adjustment now?
With every new version of iOS, Apple releases a new SDK. Apps should be built using it to stay up to date technically.
With iOS 26, Apple introduced a new system-wide material last year: Liquid Glass. It replaces the previous solid surfaces in navigation bars and toolbars with a translucent look and has since shaped the appearance of virtually all iPhone apps.
We deliberately waited to make the switch until the affected system components were running reliably. Since its launch, Liquid Glass has undergone several improvements, including enhancements to contrast and readability. Using these mature components, we are now migrating Polario to the iOS 26 SDK to ensure the app remains up to date both technically and visually. For users who have iOS 26 installed on their devices, Polario will now appear consistent with the system apps and other current apps, creating a familiar user experience.
What Will Change Specifically
The navigation bar at the top of the screen loses its solid-color fill and becomes transparent. The content below it shows through slightly. Titles and buttons remain clearly legible, as the system adjusts contrast and readability using system-wide material gradients.
This puts the actual content more front and center. The bar itself recedes visually and looks less like a separate bar and more like a thin layer over the page.
At the same time, we’re changing how we use your corporate primary color. Until now, it has been used as the background color for the navigation bar; going forward, it will be reserved specifically for interactive elements: buttons and other clickable elements such as active states or links.
What this means for you
The functionality of your app instance remains unchanged; menus and content stay where they are, as do the workflows. The only thing that changes is the visual appearance of the top navigation bar: it looks lighter and more modern and distracts less from the actual content. It is no longer technically possible to keep the old look, as Apple requires new submissions to the App Store to comply with the current SDK.
Like the web app, the iOS app will therefore have its own visual style in the future that is tailored to its platform and can respond to system-wide settings such as “Reduce Transparency” (found in iOS Accessibility).
The change will take effect automatically with the next version of the Polario app.
