As plazz AG, we have noticed a strong increase in our customers’ commitment to sustainability at events even before the German Climate Protection Act. Following the “Fridays for Future” movement, it has become clear that sustainability is no longer a pretty add-on. That’s why we at plazz AG are delighted to have organized a webinar on the subject of climate -neutral events with the experts from ClimatePartner, Stephan Meier and Loïc Maßen.
Focus of the event
The main focus of the event was an expert talk, which was produced as a livestream from the studio of WILHELM & WILLHALM. The talk discussed and analyzed a number of controversial and topical issues relating to the transformation process towards a climate-neutral event industry. For example, why there are hardly any offsetting projects within Germany or how ClimatePartner counters accusations of greenwashing. Some questions & topics were suggested directly by participants thanks to the Q&A function.
Increasing attention to climate -neutral event management
According to an interactive survey conducted during the event, over 50% of the audience have already engaged with climate-neutral events, and the trend is rising. “Change is the new normal” is more true than ever in the event industry. The event ecosystem will undergo massive and lasting change. The coronavirus pandemic has brought additional momentum to transformation processes that have already begun. In the future, event management will be expected to deal with this topic and clarify whether their event is not only sustainable but also climate-neutral. Or whether all steps of the triad for climate-neutral events, avoidance / reduction / compensation, have been consistently implemented.
